Early Education Department (Preschool, TK & Kindergarten)
The Early Education Department at Immaculate Conception School stands out as a premier option for families who wish to get their child or children ready for academic success. Our welcoming atmosphere and dedicated faculty and staff ensures that all students that walk in through our doors are ready for a lifetime of learning.
Preschool:
Immaculate Conception Preschool is fully licensed by the state of California and is designed for children who are age 2.5 (prior to September) to 3 (prior to September), and are potty-trained.
The Preschool faculty consists of a full-time Director and a full-time Teacher, who are further supported with the help of an instructional aide. Our caring and enthusiastic team provides all-day supervision and instruction, with a core focus on social, emotional and foundational learning development. Children learn shapes, numbers, manners and basic sharing and listening skills, all the while engaging in play, song, dance, and creative arts.
Our Preschool follows a similar schedule to our regular classes, beginning at 8:00am and ending at 3:00pm, with optional after-school daycare, provided at an additional cost, from 3:00pm-6:00pm.
Transitional Kindergarten (TK) & Kindergarten:
ICS offers a two-year program after Preschool, beginning with the first-year Transitional Kindergarten class and concluding with our core Kindergarten. Our TK class is designed for children who are age 4 (prior to September), and our Kindergarten class is designed for children who are age 5 (prior to September).
Research shows that children who attend Transitional Kindergarten acquire more of the necessary maturity and confidence to achieve long-term success in their learning. In TK, students learn basic social development and are exposed to the foundational concepts by which they’ll develop future skills. In Kindergarten, students are completely immersed in the curricula and practice that enables them to begin meeting the demands of the California Common Core standards.
Both our TK and Kindergarten classes follow the schedule of our regular classes, beginning at 7:55am and ending at 3:00pm, with optional after-school daycare, provided at an additional cost, from 3:00pm-6:00pm.
