United in the spirit of Pope John Paul II, we celebrated the 25th Anniversary of the Papal Visit to Los Angeles, Sept. 14 – 16. In partnership with the Archdiocese of Los Angeles Department of Catholic Schools and the Catholic Education Foundation, we hosted the special screening of “The Pope Visits Los Angeles” at Regal Cinemas, L.A. Live, followed by the Catholic Education Forum featuring panelists from the archdiocese, CEF, Mount St. Mary’s College, Loyola Marymount University and the University of Notre Dame. ICS 7th Grade teacher Mr. Robert Santos served as moderator and the students offered several important questions to the panel in front of an audience of over 250 students, parents and guests.
One student asked who gives to the CEF scholarships. CEF panelist Anthony T. Sciacca warmly responded, “There are strangers out there who believe in you.”
The papal documentary provides inspirational footage of the life of the pope and his historic visit here. It is on site at ICS we proudly dedicated the anniversary monument, blessed by Cardinal Mahony, following the Totus Tuus Mass.
