IMG_8382Ms. Mary Ann Murphy

Mary Ann Murphy has served as the principal of ICS since 1987.  She has been engaged in the ministry of Catholic education in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles since 1976, working predominantly with the Latino community. Mary Ann graduated from Holy Names University and received her Master’s degree in Education from Mt. St. Mary’s.  She taught for 11 years prior to her over 30 years as principal.

Front Office, TK Aide, and Marketing and Development Assistant / blopez@ics-la.org

Mrs. Lopez has been with ICS for a number of years as a parent, 2nd Grade Aide, Development Assistant, and now part of the Front Office Team.  All of Betsy’s children have attended ICS and she says she loves working and spending time at such a family oriented school and organization.

Mrs. La Serna has served as secretary at ICS for ten years, after 18 years of service in the Los Angeles Unified School District.  Her sons attended ICS, and in 1987 she was here to set up the luncheon tables for one very special guest, His Holiness Pope John Paul II.

Pre-School Director / mruiz@ics-la.org

Ms. Ruiz has been personally involved in Catholic school environments since her own pre-school experience.  She brings over 10 years of experience in pre-school instruction and supervision to ICS.  Previously she served as Teacher in the Pre-school Program at Our Lady of Miraculous Medal.

Pre-School Teacher and Daycare

Ms. Judy Gonzalez has been affiliated with ICS for over 25 years.  Her three children graduated from ICS and are now successful adults.  Ms. Judy began working at the school in the after-school program.  For a number of years she was the teacher aide in Grade 2.  When ICS opened its pre-school program in March 2010, Ms. Judy became the co-teacher for our littlest Panthers.

Sandra Monterrosa is an alum from Immaculate Conception School class of 2006. She graduated from Bishop Conaty Our Lady of Loreto High School in 2010. She had been working at ICS as a aide for three years and this year, is thrilled take her new position as the TK teacher. 

 

Mrs. Toni Christensen

Transitional Kindergarten Teacher / tchristensen@ics-la.org

Mrs. Christensen has been a volunteer and substitute  teacher at ICS for the past three years. Although most of her career has been in business, Mrs. Christensen has a Master’s degree in Child Development from Pacific Oaks College in Pasadena. We are happy to have her share her wisdom and expertise with us.

Carrie Rodriguez is an Alum from Immaculate Conception School class of 2003.  She graduated from Saint Monica Catholic High School and continued her higher education at Cal State Northridge where she received her Bachelors in Child and Adolescent development in 2014.  She is currently pursuing her teaching credential with a Masters in Education at Mount Saint Mary’s University.

Kindergarten Aide

Mrs. Garcia has been a part of the ICS community for over 30 years.  She started providing services for ICS on behalf of her two sons are graduates.  She has worked as a teacher aide in kindergarten for many years.  She loves working with children and is extremely grateful that her dream of working at ICS came true, thanks to Ms. Murphy.

1st Grade Teacher / grodriguez@ics-la.org

Georgia Rodriguez has been the first grade teacher for the past 12 years. She is a graduate of ICS.  She completed her undergraduate studies and credential at California State University at Northridge. She continued her education by clearing her credential and earning a master degree from Mount St. Mary’s University. She lives in the community and brings an important perspective to our faculty.

1st Grade Aide (a.m.) and Daycare Director

Sra. Cueva has worked at Immaculate Conception School for many years.  She runs the after-school care program in the afternoons and works as a teacher aide each morning in Grade 1.  Mrs. Cueva is the proud mother of two young adult sons, Walter and William, both graduates of ICS.

Elizabeth Charles come to Immaculate Conception through the Alliance for Catholic Education (ACE), a Catholic service-teaching program. A graduate of the University of Notre Dame, Ms. Charles received her masters in Education from Notre Dame through he ACE program. She is looking forward to a wonderful year in second grade and is grateful for the ICS community.

3rd Grade Teacher / pbachemin@ics-la.org

Patricia Bachemin is a graduate of California State University at Long Beach and has taught at Immaculate Conception since 1996.  She grew up in the parish, and is familiar with the challenges of the community.  Mrs. Bachemin was the kindergarten teacher for 20 years, but has enjoyed the last four years as the 3rd grade teacher.

4th Grade Teacher / msimon@ics-la.org

Michelle Simon is an Immaculate Conception School Alum from the class of 2008.  She went on to attend Bishop-Conaty Our Lady of Loretto High School, and later graduated from Loyola Marymount University in 2017.  Ms. Simon has a degree in Liberal Studies with a concentration in History along with her California Teaching Credential.  “I am blessed to be back at ICS as the fourth grade teacher! I have been a part of the ICS community for a really long time and I can say I’m extremely proud of my ICS roots.”

Gloria Esqueda graduated from Cal State Northridge in 2015 with her bachelors in Child and Adolescent Development.  She is currently attending Mount Saint Mary’s for her Masters in Education and her teaching credential.  This is her third year teaching at ICS, and is now the 5th grade teacher.

 

Ms. Leslie Arizmendi

6th Grade Teacher / Science and Social Studies for 6-8 Grades / larizmendi@ics-la.org

Leslie Arizmendi received her B.A in Social Science from CSU San Bernardino and she is currently pursuing her M.A. in Education.  She has taught in the Los Angeles Archdiocese since 2013 and is excited to join the ICS community!

7th Grade Teacher / Math for 6-8 Grades / aazour@ics-la.org

Anthony Azour is the middle school math and 7th grade homeroom teacher.  He is a proud alum of Cal State Long Beach.  He has a fine arts degree as well as a background in illustration, drawing and painting.

8th Grade Teacher / Language Arts for 6-8 Grades /ymeza@ics-la.org

Yrina Meza received her B.A. in English and Spanish from the University of California at Irvine. She looks forward to growing and pursuing higher education as well as instilling a love of learning and faith in her students. This is her second year at ICS and her first year as the new 8th grade teacher.

Heather Murphy-Garcia first taught at ICS in 2000 before pursuing graduate studies in Urban Planning at UCLA.  Since returning to ICS she has acquired an additional Master’s degree in education and a California credential at Loyola Marymount University. In the fall of 2008, she began her third Master’s in instructional leadership at Mt. St. Mary’s.

Nadine Vasquez is a graduate of Mount St. Mary’s University with her a Masters and credential in education.   In addition, she completed a second master’s in Catholic School Administration at LMU and is an adjunct professor at Mount St. Mary’s University.  Ms. Vasquez is active in ICS special events, marketing and is currently pursuing her 3rd Master’s at USC.

 

Mr. Nestor Diaz

Physical Education Teacher and Athletic Director

Mr. Diaz has been the P.E. teacher and team coach for many years.  He has coached boys and girls basketball and soccer as well as girls volleyball.  Coach Diaz is a physician from Ecuador.  His two younger children are both graduates of ICS.

Sra. Guadalupe Zavala

Lunch Program and Daycare Aide

Sra. Zavala directs the Federal School Lunch Program at ICS.  She arrives bright and early each day to prepare breakfast for the students and then gets lunch ready, too!  After school she assists the daycare program.  Mrs. Zavala has three daughters who graduated from ICS.

Sra. Maria Amaral

Lunch Program and Custodian

Sra. Amaral is the proud mother and grandmother of two generations of ICS grads.  She is always willing to lend a helping hand, as evidenced by her amazing cooking for the faculty and staff.

Sra. Natividad Villa

Custodian 

Dona Nati is a current ICS parent as well as a parent of two graduates.  Her son Omar was a member of the 100th graduating class of ICS and is the recipient an honors scholarship to Salesian High School.

 

Ms. Julie R. Picot

Marketing, PR and Development Consultant

Julie brings over 20 years of successful experience in marketing and public relations with both corporations and non-profits.  “I am honored to be a part of a team that is making a positive and lasting impact on the lives of so many children and our country’s future.”
