STUDENT LIFE |
SPIRITUAL FORMATION
The administration, faculty, and staff of Immaculate Conception are guided by the principles of Catholic education, which focus on message, community, service and worship. Parents are regarded as the primary educators who serve as the first role models in the formation of their children’s spiritual and intellectual lives. Teachers provide ongoing support to help parents accomplish this.
The Immaculate Conception school community provides opportunities for students to be people of faith and involved citizens. The educational programs at Immaculate Conception provide students with the skills to think critically and communicate effectively. Through a faith-centered education, we strive to aid students in developing life skills that will enable them to become socially aware and productive citizens in the greater community.
ICS students participate in school-wide prayer two times per week and attend the monthly school Mass. Grades 2-8 attend the weekly ICS Parish Mass on Wednesday mornings at 7:30am. Students also participate in community projects, both individually and at each grade level.

SOCIO-EMOTIONAL CARE
ICS is not only committed to the spiritual and academic growth of your child, but also to his/her socio-emotional development. Religion, Social Studies and Science classes teach students awareness of social justice from the interpersonal level all the way to the global level. Teachers and staff know students on a personal level and ensure that we all do our best to treat one another with kindness and integrity. Additionally, we have 2-3 trained counselors on campus to assist staff and students in doing their personal best to learn empathy and compassion. Our counselors come from the Counseling Partners of Los Angeles (CPLA) who provide traditional one-one-one therapy at no charge to the student. CPLA counselors will also partner with administration to provide professional development for the faculty and staff, or partner with teachers to provide workshops and seminars for entire classes. Additionally, beginning in 2019, ICS entered a partnership with Helen B. Landgarten Art Therapy Clinic at Loyola Marymount University. A supervised Art Therapy/Marriage and Family Therapy Trainee a provides ICS students with 10 hours a week of creative support in the form of therapeutic art making.
